Through our continuing study of the grace of God we rejoice that it is our Lord’s desire to shower His children with the living reality of His great Grace. We remind ourselves that grace is defined as divine influence upon my heart that will have a reflection in my life. This divine influence provides the ability to do what I am unable to do in the natural.

Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of Grace, and then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one morns his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a first born.”

What joy comes to the thirsty soul when the grace of God upon a life is received through faith. The Holy Spirit will take that hand extended in trust and lead the beloved son or daughter of God into a holy life. A life well pleasing to God.
The human, mortal efforts are never going to get you where your heart longs to be with God. There is a frustration because no matter how hard you try your efforts never satisfy the longing in your heart.

Our Lord in His great wisdom has placed a hunger within each heart to walk victorious over the schemes of the Enemy. Yet without the glorious goodness of our Lord’s grace to meet every evil tendency we fail in our own efforts. (James 4:6) Jesus alone satisfies. The Lord Jesus through His sacrifice made provision that the Spirit of Grace, the Holy Spirit Himself, at work in our lives had already deprived sin of power in our lives. (Romans 8:3) “…God condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept the sacrifice].”

Our hearts are so grateful of all that Jesus has done for those who believe upon Him. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2) In utter helplessness we rely on the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Grace, to help us walk in the privilege of our birthright in Christ Jesus. Through the work of grace upon our lives we receive daily, hourly, and constant victory over the flesh and over sin.

By faith we believe in the divine power of the Holy Spirit to set us free. We lean on this one, the Holy Spirit Jesus promised to give us and we know He will cause the goodness of God to change what Satan has used to steal kill and destroy us in the past. [R.A. Torrey, The Herald of His Coming Feb. 2013)

Prayer: Gracious Lord how thankful we are for the completed work of Jesus on my behalf. He alone perfected the covenant of love on my behalf. Father, I receive by faith the work of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Grace upon my life. I am utterly dependent upon Your work in my body, my mind, my will, my emotions, my inabilities, that through You I live a life of victory in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
