Dear Friends at New Life,
Summer is always a time of refreshment and preparation for our family and ministry. This year has proven to be more of the same. We just finished teaching some of the courses we started last fall and are now busy preparing for the new lives, new classes and new challenges God is setting before us in the coming school year.
We just finished hosting Strategic Life Training. This was a 10-month course focused on providing the participants with a biblical worldview and a heart to impact their communities. Our group pictured to the right was incredibly engaged in the growth process. Damon and Connor (far left) are first year engineers that just graduated from KU. Ruthie (middle), a recent KU grad, is now starting her career in public health by serving AmeriCorp in Wyandotte County in Kansas City, KS. She is studying ways to help low income and single parent families provide adequate health care. Nathaniel (top right) was just married and is finishing his career in the military. He had been
serving as an ROTC instructor at KU. Lauren (bottom right) a KSU cat and dental office administrator has been serving as a youth mentor in Lawrence for years.
We are incredibly proud of this group for continuing to seek God and His plans and purposes while transitioning from school into the full time work force. Their hearts for Jesus and love for people will transform the world. As a final group project they joined forces with one of our CTG staff, Jesse Brinson, to help him prepare to run for a local county commission race. They are taking their faith and applying it in their community. As one who was educated to be a social science teacher and attorney I was super proud.
FAMILY UPDATE: I would be remiss to not include a note about the family. We have a loud/loving contingent of partners demanding to hear about the kids! Naomi (17) is entering her senior year and is excited for one last year at home before heading off to Creighton University to play volleyball and study. Yes, study. She is interested in pediatric nursing or physical therapy.
Rachel (15) will be a sophomore at Free State High School. This will be her first venture into public schooling and she is somewhat excited. She is hoping to figure out soon whether the right fit for college volleyball is Kansas or Nebraska. Isaac (13) is awesome! He loves creating things, hunting, playing soccer and hanging out with his fellow homeschooled friends.
Hope (10) is our communication specialist (always talking). She is following in her sisters’ footsteps by playing volleyball and is trying to tackle a sugar addiction.
Thank you for your continued prayers for our kids as they grow in their faith. They truly are our first ministry priority and we are mindful of your investment in their lives as well as ours when you partner with us to reach the campuses.
He is Faithful,
August 2016
Ryan & Miriam
