Selah (Part 2)

Day 19

Today’s
Scripture:

2 Cor 10:3-5 (TPT)
For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide. We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

Thought for Today:

During his reign, King David gathered 4,000 musicians to worship before the Lord 24 hours a day for 33 years. These musicians were trained in music theory, instrumentation, scripture, and world events. This training is what David used to create an atmosphere that shook heaven and earth; so much so that the prophet Amos foretold that the Tabernacle of David will be restored in the last days. The atmosphere David instituted shattered the schemes of the enemy and also brought restoration of nations. Songs were written to demolish strongholds, shatter arrogant attitudes, and any defiance of the true knowledge of God. Songs were sung to bring the broken and lost back home.

There are records of Selahs, musical interludes, that would last for hours and in one case days. The priesthood would not move on until they had a break-though against any opposition that threatened the nation – the people. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are now part of that priesthood. We have access to a dimension of communion with the Father that changes neighborhoods and nations as WE pull down strongholds.

How do you enter the gathering of worshippers? Are you looking for your weekly fill-up or do you enter worship ready to give, ready to decree, and ready to prophesy in our songs? Do you hope the worship team sings your favorite song or do you come asking, “Father what song do You need to hear today? Father, what pleases You?” There are no wrong answers to these questions. There is, however, a difference of attitude.

Prayer:

Father, teach me greater dimensions of worship. Show me the times to rest in Your presence, the times to receive, and times to go to war. Teach me Your songs. Teach me Your heart. I want a heart like David towards You. Amen

Activation:

Examine the songs you listen to or sing. How many include the phrase I will, I am, we will, etc. How many worship songs only mention the Father, Son or Holy Spirit? Read the lyrics and the chorus. Do self-centered vs God centered songs have a different tone? What about songs where the Lord speaks back to you? Are you familiar with any? What is He saying? Worship is a two way street. Decide to take some time and examine these ideas and allow the Holy Spirit take you to a higher level.
