A Tale of Two Cities

Day 17

Today’s
Scripture:

Gen. 11:6 (NKJV)
And the LORD said, “Indeed the people [are] one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

Acts 2:1 (NKJV)
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Thought for Today:

The first city: (Gen.11) The valley is Shinar. The time was shortly after the great flood and a promise given was sealed with a rainbow (Gen.9). The people were united in a common purpose. They begin to build a city to the sky. The building materials they used ; stone and asphalt – “water proof materials.” This ‘unity’ demonstrates a distinct lack of trust and a rejection of the One who gave these people a promise. The Lord then “confuses” their language, alters brain function, and changes the physics of creation. The city became known as Babel.

The second city: (Acts 2) One hundred and twenty people gather in an upper room. They have been taught and encouraged for 40 days by the risen Jesus. Their purpose is united. They are of one mind and one passion. There is a sound from heaven. There is a manifestation of speaking in other tongues. Language, in part, has been restored and a curse lifted. The city is Jerusalem.

Unity, being of one mind and one purpose, is a powerful thing. The question is; are we linked to the plans and purposes of popular culture or are we linked to the Promise Keeper? Extraordinary events are even now unfolding. Father God is wanting to once again renew our minds, change the physics of His creation, through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Which city are you preparing for? Which voice do you hear? Which city are you preparing to inhabit – Babel or Jerusalem?

Prayer:

Father help me to discern to what I give my attention and energy. It is my desire to be of one mind and one passion for your plans and purposes for my life. I want to be a partner with You in the restoration of Your creation. Thank you, Father. Amen.

Activation:

If you have your prayer language, understand that you are participating in an act that is declaring God’s restoration of all things. For those that are still waiting for this particular manifestation, continue to ask and pursue Him. Ponder that this is yet another reason the Lord would not leave this particular gift back in the first century. We are entering a season of great restoration. We will need these tools.
