What a beautiful season we are enjoying as we step into Advent. As we have been growing in our
understanding of our Lord’s grace flowing in us, we rejoice with the angels at the birth of our
Redeemer-Jesus the Messiah.

This loving God who knew that man had no hope without His intervention
planned the most daring rescue using the most unlikely resources. His plan was
received by a humble young woman who really didn’t understand the nuances or
expanse of the grace and love of God toward us. Through her agreement with the Lord
saying, “be it done unto me as You have said,” set in motion the most powerful rescue
that none in the earthly realm or even in the spiritual realm could conceive.

“Jesus came to earth to be the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world.”
(Revelation 3:8) Jesus provided the opportunity for any who would choose Him as Lord
and Savior to receive a new life. His love and kindness was so true and steadfast that
He was willing to allow anyone to choose between death and sin, or love and grace.
By choosing Him, with great joy we can say with Paul, “Who shall separate us
from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution or famine or
nakedness, or peril, or sword?” (Romans 8:35).

Christmas is a special time to meditate upon the love that our Lord has for each
precious human being. He has loved us with an everlasting love. His perfect love
assures us that HE has a future and a hope for us. (Jeremiah 29:11). He alone
provides salvation.

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For YAH,
the Lord, is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:3)

Through this saving love and amazing grace, a miracle takes place. No longer
are we an enemy of God. Rather, He showers upon us with such a love that we
become His children.

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called
children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
(1 John 3:1) This great love allows us to be fully and completely accepted by God through
faith in Jesus our Savior. Oh that each of us would take a moment to rejoice and praise
the King of Kings for truly He alone, “has brought me to the banqueting house, and His
banner over me was love.” (Song of Solomon 2:4)

This wonderful banner of love and flowing grace has united us with Christ, given us
the precious indwelling Holy Spirit, and ignited a hunger for ever more of our Lord
within our lives. How good is to us, and this Advent season touches our hearts all the
more, as the reality of our rescue by the King of Kings becomes our personal revelation.

PRAYER
Gracious Lord, how thankful we are for the birth of Jesus upon the earth. Only He was able
to perfectly satisfy the covenant requirements between God and man. Thank you so much Lord
Jesus for making a way for me to walk in close, loving relationship with You. What a covenant
of love. I ask for greater revelation of Your and grace flowing upon my life. Your banner of
love over me is like a beacon to the hurting in our world. May I share Your love with others that
You bring across my path. May Your love and light within me draw others to choose You as their
Lord and beloved Savior. In Jesus name we pray – Amen.

Blessing,
Mary Wehner
