The holidays are here along with the hustle and busyness of the season. In the
midst of all the demands and stress it can be tempting to put our time with the Lord on
“auto-pilot,” so to speak spiritually. Let me encourage you to resist that idea or
attitude. The Christmas Season is rich with reminders of the loving kindness and grace
of the Lord. You may honestly feel exhausted. However, don’t give in to the
temptation to go into a, “hibernation” mode spiritually or mentally.
As a follower of Jesus Christ this is your time to really shine. This is a wonderful
opportunity to rejoice and express God’s greatness with a heart of sharing, blessing,
giving, and generosity. I really enjoy The Message translation of Ephesians 5:1-2,
“Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior
from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with Him and
learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but
extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of
Himself to us. Love like that.” Isn’t that beautiful? Love like Him, “extravagant.”
This is the time to turn up the light. Now, let me give you a little secret, if you don’t spend
time with the Lord and recharge daily with the, “Joy of the Lord,” you will most likely
crash. Without His presence, the holidays with their crowds, traffic, and demands will
wear you down and out.
However, if we spend time with the Lord, rejoicing and praising Him, the Holy
Spirit will use us as instruments of real Christmas, “God with us.”
May our prayer during this season be that of the prophet Isaiah, “Lord send
me.” If you truly want to see God working in and through you, then now is the time.
Move to the place where God is blessing and working. The Lord is very caring and
tender hearted toward those who are down and out, and rejected. His heart beats
compassionately for those in need, not just financially, but physically, emotionally, and
spiritually.
I would like to encourage us, both individually and corporately as a church
body to stop and look around. See not just with our eyes but with our hearts. See the
forgotten and those who have been “set aside,” by life.
If you truly want this to be a supernatural Christmas then commit to listen
and hear the Lord’s heartbeat, at work, school, and home.
Speak words of encouragement. You are Living Word. You are the light of the world,
let your light shine bright. The Lord rejoices with your involvement. Like the Loving
Father that He is, He likes it when you, act like Him in loving those around you.
*Now here is a Christmas secret I have for you. As you do these things with the Lord
you will find that you are no longer exhausted. You will find that you are renewed and
restored. You will find life, because the Holy Spirit will “come along side” of you and
supernaturally use what you are doing, and infuse it with supernatural life and even
more, you will be blessed. You are blessed to be a blessing. Enjoy the holiday and stay
alert. Your greatest victories are ahead of you. Your miracle is right in front of you.
Make it a great holiday season. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.
